What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy being able to pass my skills and learning on to those I am tutoring, and I enjoy seeing students succeed using my methods. I also enjoy seeing students who may have been struggling find some confidence within themselves after seeing some better results after tutoring
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my unique style of teaching and learning can prove to be a great asset to me as a math tutor in particular; I like to create formulae and/or step-by-step processes that can be applied to a wide range of scenarios in given areas of mathematics, which I find more useful than using specific examples to teach
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think it’s very important that a tutor can alter the ways in which they may go about tutoring to cater to specific needs of specific students where necessary. For example, if a student doesn’t understand my personal way of finding solutions, it’s important that I can work with them to find a way that I can explain things that will be useful to them. I also think it’s important that a tutor can make a student feel comfortable enough to ask questions where they may need clarification; lots of people can be afraid to speak when they need that as they may not feel comfortable enough to ask

We had some trouble interpreting some of the more complex questions; so in future we'll have to keep focusing on how to break down trickier, worded questions

We had some more trouble with the more confusing angles like co-interior and corresponding. Alyssa told me she has a test on this topic, but won't be for quite some time so we have plenty of time to make sure her understanding is where it needs to be

Will was fine with the simpler questions (for example, given a chart with different sections of different sizes, Will was able to determine the most- and least-significant ones, etc)
There was some confusion over what calculations to do for which scenarios (in some cases we divided by 100, and others by 360, and Will sometimes got them mixed up, so we will review this in our next session to make sure he understands)
We found non-calculator questions easier to interpret; they seemed more direct, so we didn't take too much time looking at those

The wording of the calculator-allowed questions tended to be more difficult for Alyssa, so I went through how we might break down some of those harder questions, hoping she might use this to better understand
