What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Meeting and getting to know a student and helping them grow and gain confidence not only in the subject being taught but overall. Learning from my students and my tutoring sessions with them.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I design my lessons specifically for the individual student's needs and learning style. I am patient and encourage my students to feel more confident and believe in themselves.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Every student needs to feel supported and encouragement can build confidence. I assist my students to develop their skills in the subject being taught, build their confidence overall and act as a mentor when necessary. I equip my students with the ability to learn independently and succeed.

About Chantal
Love to Learn
From a young age I loved to learn new concepts and skills. Into adulthood I graduated with a Bachelor's degree with distinction and an MBA. I also love to help others learn and watch them grow.
Different Perspectives
An important lesson I have learnt from teaching others is that different people see things differently and achieve understanding in various ways. My approach to tutoring is to find what works best for my student and approach the topics from their perspective.

Shalom didn't know the index laws and we spent some time on those. Shalom is still struggling with expansion of algebraic terms. Her schedule says she has a test next week but they haven't completed the topic yet so I asked her to check when it will be.

Natasha scored 73% for her assessment she did last week. She also said she answered all the OLNA questions and felt positive about her answers. Natasha did well with perimeter including of composite figures. With some assistance she mastered conversion of units of length.
Natasha can do area calculations but asks for assistance because she is not confident with them. She struggled a lot with conversion of square units. Partly, I think, because she is unsure of multiples of 10 e.g. what amount is 10000. We will try a different approach next week.

Shalom had completed the practice test I sent her. She has a good grasp of some fundamental concepts and can apply them. Although reluctant at the start, she did engage with lesson.
Shalom was unsure about circle geometry specifically radius, diameter and circumference. This was new to her. Given the focus on NAPLAN I need to do more assessment to identify what she struggles with.
