What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I find great joy in helping students realise their full potential not necessarily academically, but in the broader context of development. Being able to excel academically gives students and parents the confidence to pursue other extra-curricular activities which play an invaluable part in how a students grows and develops.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my own experience of going through tutoring and consistently being in academically high performing situations have made me acutely aware of how to truly develop a student. Therefore my strengths lie in being able to both teach concepts but also grow skills that bring about natural improvement and a self-critical outlook.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
My empathetic and worldy nature have made me sensitive to different situations and goals, hence as a tutor I pride myself on being able to adapt and provide nuanced and personalised tutoring. Alongside this, I see value in providing mentorship and guidance to both students and parents meaning that the best outcomes are made in all facets.
Overall, it is important to me to truly understand the student's needs/goals and ability and how as a tutor I can work within these to provide exceptional results. Concurrently, I would strive for my students to become independent learners and well rounded.

Quickly picked up method of multiplying fractions and then simplify as needed. Also simplified questions before calculating answers effectively. Multiplication and division of numbers now far quicker and accurate.
More complex numbers are not as easily simplified and require some help (easier with practice). Some understanding of what is actually being done, i.e how simplifying fractions before multiplying produces the same answer. Some clarification will fix this.

Now able to confidently complete vertical multiplication questions. Long division for two and three digit numbers with no remainder also done well. Is able to calculate are and perimeter for simple shapes quickly and with few mistakes.
Long division for more complex numbers are still causing confusion, mostly do with notation as opposed to actual calculation. Able to calculate area and perimeter, but has some confusion of what these calculations actually represent and how to adapt to different shapes.

Was able to quickly grasp and implement vertical multiplication with very few mistakes and this was great to see. Also understood long division and began to utilise the method somewhat effectively towards the end. Overall, great to see that the basic are well covered now.
Some confusion still surrounds long division especially with remainders. Some "silly" mistakes are made, however these are more so related to focus and not ability as he can identify and rectify issues effectively when told there is a mistake.
