What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy helping others, especially children to learn and excel and would welcome the opportunity to expand the work I do in this area. As a tutor, seeing students grow in understanding new concepts and realising they are capable of more than they originally thought is extremely rewarding and delightful.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am patient, positive, enthusiastic and try to make learning fun. I am passionate about maths and enjoy passing on some of that passion to my students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for their students is to enable them to believe in themselves and to cultivate a love for learning. Helping them to grow and overcome their struggles by showing them techniques on how to approach different challenges, ultimately setting them up to be more confident and successful.

- times tables review/practice went well (we did 10 mins at start of lesson and 5 mins quiz at end of lesson) - comparing fractions (< or > or =) is something that is being taught in school lately and Sonny seems to have a grip on it - finding equivalent fractions (by mult or div by correct number) - this is useful in many things involving fractions - adding/subt. fractions of different denominators went well
nothing in particular, I've noticed Sonny is quite a good thinker / problem solver which is a great asset in maths / life in general. Often makes very minor mistakes but is usually able to self-correct /identify them quite quickly, which is great. - consistent times tables practice is recommended.

- identifying sides in a right-angle triangle with angle as opposite, adjacent and hypotenuse respectively- ensuring your resulting calculation is correct / has been input into calculator correctly - gradients could use further review

diligence in revising and realising that thinking often admits understanding on how to do a given question (rather than 'remembering steps' or 'the process' - as this is only successful in the short term)

- practice constructing and solving simultaneous equations using elimination and substitution - understanding how to construct simultaneous equations from a worded problem - understanding how elimination and substitution works (without having to rely on step-by-step instructions, because this is just following an algorithm rather than thinking and understanding) - taught methods for checking the final answer to a question, and identifying how to correct this answer if it is wrong Overall I think today's lesson was very successful and good progress was made.
- practice solving simultaneous equations without having to rely on step-by-step instructions (instead rely on understanding and ability to think things through) - back-checking (including writing things down clearly and correctly, and checking the answer at the end)
