What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy engaging students in a one on one environment to help them understand concepts of maths and english they are struggling to learn within the classroom setting. Helping them finally gain and understanding of what they are struggling with and being able to put it into practice is fantastic.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I am Dyslexic myself, more specifically with Dyscalculia (dyslexia involving arithmetical calculations) as well as with normal words, spelling etc. Having this through my entire schooling experience has gained me an understanding of how the children feel when they are unable to grasp a concept that other students grasp so easily, and I have learned a variety of ways to engage in learning mathematical problem solving in a way that is easier to understand, such as using shapes in place of numbers whilst teaching algebra in order for them to understand the basic formula before introducing numbers

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing you can do for a student (other than teaching them the things they are struggling with) is letting them know they aren't as "stupid" as they may feel. So many students enter tutoring frustrated, upset and not wanting to be there because they believe that they are "stupider" or "dumber" than their friends because "well my friends didn't need tutoring, why can't I get it". Alongside teaching them how to be able to understand and put into practice the things they are struggling with, teaching them that they are not "stupid" for requiring extra help is extremely important.
