What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Educating and inspiring young people is something I am extremely passionate about, and because of this I am pursuing a career as a teacher. Seeing a student succeed and be proud of their efforts, and knowing that you had a part in their success is an amazing feeling. Helping a struggling student to understand concepts and master them is also one of my favourite parts about tutoring, because sometimes I have to think creatively about how to teach a certain topic, which provides me with a good challenge.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I pride myself on being extremely patient and understanding - if a student is struggling to understand something, I will simply try to teach it from a different point of view. I also ensure that while remaining professional, I am able to make a student feel comfortable around me, so that they feel no shame in telling me what they are struggling with and I can help them.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I believe that a good tutor has the the ability to help students build confidence for the classroom, and inspire them to be the best that they can be. Another thing that is important to me is not belittling the student or making them feel "stupid" for not understanding, but instead relating to them and helping them find a different way to solve the problem.

With online tutoring, it is especially important that Taj verbalises numbers accurately - this is a skill we have been working on for a while, and I have definitely seen positive improvement!

Even though these year 9 worksheets were more challenging than his schoolwork, Taj was keen to work through them and "get ahead". After some leading questions, Taj was able to solve these problems mostly on his own.
Taj had forgotten basic definitions like factorise and expand, but this is probably due to 2 weeks off from school and tutoring.

Working on handwriting speed by timing exercises and working to beat the times! Taj mixed up the signs (+/-) a few times, but this can be corrected with better concentration.

We completed all the homework questions with relative ease, minus a rule that Taj had forgotten. I can see TajΓ’β¬β’s confidence growing, and his standards for himself rising, which is really great to see! We left the session feeling confident about his test for tomorrow.
Still working on handwriting speed and posture. Taj had also forgotten strategies to get the variable on its own, but after learning questions and reaching the answer, he remembered how to do it for the other questions.
