What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I really enjoy teaching other people techniques for solving problems so that they can learn to solve them independently, and subsequently develop their own techniques. Teaching is very rewarding when you see a student improve from your work, and also improve their confidence at problem solving.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

Apart from a passion for learning and academics, I’ve help tutor students before and display patience with them, and also can seek advice when needed. During my tutoring with reading for the Smith Family, the child I was tutoring had ADHD and was often very distracted from reading. This meant I had to ask his mother for techniques for keeping him on task, which eventually worked and his reading improved. I persevere with students, as I understand that it can take a while for some people to grasp concepts that others find simple.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

To succeed academically, a student needs to be able to have techniques for solving problems. Therefore it is integral that a tutor doesn’t just provide answers, but provides techniques, and this also allows the student to develop their own tricks and techniques. Additionally, students who doubt themselves and are not confident often don’t even attempt more difficult problems that they have the ability to solve, or at least earn some marks in. A good tutor needs to instill confidence in a student.
