What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
When I was in high school in my junior years I lacked confidence in my schoolwork and I didn't know who to ask for help as the eldest daughter of a first generation immigrant family. After I started tutoring I gained confidence in myself which boosted my productivity and engagement with learning. I'm aspiring a tutoring career as a student who has just graduated high school with an ATAR of 89.55 and want to have the rewarding experience of witnessing students achieve their academic goals, even if its something as small as solving a math problem which they initially found difficult.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My ability to be compassionate with students and understand that each student has a different requirement when tutored is one of my strengths, where due to my organised nature, I enjoy making tailored material that is best suited to the respective student. I understand that students may be nervous when sharing their academic struggles with others, with my previous experience in high school as a Peer Support leader, I have the ability to communicate with others to ensure that they feel comfortable sharing their strengths and weaknesses with me so that I can optimise my support.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is ensure that their methods of teaching is effective for the student and that they are able to understand the material without the feeling of embarrassment or fear of not understanding the content that the tutor is teaching. Many students receive tutoring to be ahead of their classmates, however many also receive tutoring if they are struggling, and therefore I find it essential that the tutor is able to guide the student into achieving their goals while ensuring that through the process the student does not feel like they are 'dumb'.
