What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I find tutoring immensely rewarding. A lot of the time when explaining a concept I can see the moment something just "clicks" for the student and it makes sense. I remember the joy of that feeling from when I was a high school student (and still experience it as a university student) and love being able to contribute to someone else's growth.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My key strength as a tutor is my ability to empathise with my students. I personally benefited from tutoring as a student and my experience has helped me in creating a nurturing learning environment for my students. I am very patient with students and can explain things in multiple ways, breaking down complex topics into simpler parts, to ensure their understanding. On top of learning the content, it's important to build a student's confidence so I make sure to be as encouraging as possible to make learning a positive experience.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
No two students are the same so the most important thing a tutor can do is communicate effectively with their students. This includes talking to the student to understand their goals and needs in tutoring. It also includes identifying when a certain teaching method or way of explaining is not working and being able to adjust. Further, things run smoother and the student is able to enjoy tutoring more when there is a level of rapport between the tutor and student.
Hence, important traits for a tutor to have are good communication skills, adaptability, and attentiveness.
