What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I enjoy seeing when a student finally understands something, almost like a 'lightbulb moment', and you can kind of see it on their face. I also enjoy trying to explain a concept that in a way that a student hasn't heard or thought of before, and thus allowing them to think about the same idea in a different way.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I tend to think a lot about where certain ideas come from and how we arrived at them. For example, where does the Pythagoras's Theorem come from and how do we prove Pythagoras's Theorem. I think these things will help a student further understand a concept and how to use it, rather than a typical rote learning style that many of us are familiar with.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
Teaching a student the content they need to know is always a good start, however teaching a student how to build on their knowledge and further their understanding is the most important, essentially teaching them how to learn. Being able to understand new things and connect them to concepts learned previously is what I think to be the most important, and is why a good foundation is so important.
