What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

As I worked mostly with underperforming or 'lazy' students, I placed a lot on emphasis on building the right habits. So it's very fulfilling and motivating for me when I receive texts from parents telling me about the positive behavioral changes (eg. taking the initiative to do their homework etc.) they see in their child. I love it when I hear students telling me they enjoy a subject (which they previously loathed), and seeing them feel confident about themselves after solving a challenging question on their own. And the things I get to learn from these mischievous kids!

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

My ability to emphasized with my student, to build a relationship with them and as clichΓ© as it sounds, the passion to teach. For me, being a teacher is not just about teacher the subject material, but rather about shaping positive behaviors, helping these young minds build the right habits. I am also a flexible teacher in terms of my teaching style. For example, when working with underperforming students, I spend more time building relationships with them. On the other hand, I tend to be more strict and aggressive when working with overachievers.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

Instill confidence. This is especially important with underperforming students who are often being labelled as 'lazy' or 'stupid'. Most of the time they are just misunderstood. Of course, they are students who are just lazy. But that's not without reasons, it could be the problem with the study materials, the pace of teaching etc. All they need is a little guidance and patience, and time. Life is a marathon, not a sprint.
