What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love the connections and rapports that I am able to build with the students, and personally, I enjoy seeing them grow and improve. I do enjoy making learning fun for students, however, I am finding the greatest enjoyment in the moments when they are able to grasp the concepts/skills that I am trying to teach in the class, and/or on the tennis court.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I feel that my greatest strength is my patience, I am able to continue working with a student on achieving a certain outcome, no matter how long it takes. I always feel that it is better to make sure they have learnt 1-2 things very well, rather than having only a basic knowledge of 5-10 concepts.
I would always prefer a student who is limited in their ability, and tries as best as they can, rather than a higher level student who is difficult to critique and/or accept feedback.
I am able to develop relationships with students and problem solve with them.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor should display patience, kindness, and develop a relationship with the student; as well as personalised learning.
I think it is important to develop different strategies of explaining concepts to students, this is a skill I was able to further improve whilst on placement.
There is more to tennis coaching than teaching children how to hit a tennis ball. Through tennis coaching, I have learnt how to help students find a sense of belonging, enjoy themselves, and discovered different teaching methods to convey skills. These abilities have helped my teaching and tutoring immensely.
