What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I have always loved collaboration; with my friends, with mentors, and with younger people I can help. For example, in my time as college captain, we worked closely with younger cohorts to deliver engaging workshops on how to improve recognition of gender inequality in male dominated environments. I grew up with tutors in my house for myself and my brothers, and they were always such kind people who became life mentors as well as academic mentors. What I love about tutoring is now I can be that person and that role model.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Whilst I was always a keen mathematics student, interpreting texts and creating fluent essay responses or creative pieces within English has always been my area. This means, while I would be more than happy to help tutor maths, I feel as though my help within humanity and writing-based subjects such ans English and History would be truly the most effective, especially given the prominence of people who are happy to tutor maths.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most powerful way a tutor can aid a student is by giving them confidence. More than often, students can show more vulnerability in a one-on-one session than in a classroom surrounded by their peers, and so the best thing I can do is use these private sessions to impart confidence in the students by making them see ways they can succeed. I think a natural result of this is a bond and friendship, which can give the student things to look forward to and someone to look up to.

Although we only started late in the year, it was fantastic to see so much growth in Louis' maths. I honestly didn't expect it to be so tangible and noticeable.

N/A, fantastic effort so far and we'll keep pushing when the new year begins!
Starting to grasp strategies of solving quadratics without factorising first.

Will need to work on this topic strongly when the 2025 school year resumes because it's so fresh!
Despite being an extremely content-heavy lesson, Maja did well to understand the concepts and openly said she was feeling confident and happy with the new material.

Still struggling with the algebra side of things but the more we do quadratics (which have so much algebra inherently) she will get stronger.
Excelled with his division worksheets focusing on dividing by 2 and 3. Also did great with some subtraction which we finished with.

N/A, another absolutely great lesson. In fact, Louis even self admitted that 'division was finally making proper sense.'
