What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy seeing people progress with their learning, and witnessing the moment that things click. I also enjoy the challenge of having to break problems down into smaller components, and presenting these in a way that makes sense to the learner.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

Temperamentally, I am patient and empathetic. I also take complete responsibility when teaching or instructing others, meaning that, if something is not being understood for whatever reason, I believe the fault is with me and my approach, rather than the learner. Finally, I myself enjoy, and am very enthusiastic about, learning. Therefore, if I am not too sure about something, I will always take the time to improve my own knowledge, so as to be better able to teach it.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

Expanding on what I have written earlier, I think that one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is be prepared, and always willing to learn. I think this requires being a bit humble, and accepting that, even with something that may appear to be far below the tutor's learning, there may still be things that aren't known or have been forgotten. It means that if the tutor is not sure about something, not to provide a sub-optimal, and potentially incorrect piece of information, advice or answer, just to avoid a hurt ego. Additionally, I think that a tutor must be reflective.
