What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love that tutoring allows be to meet new people and build new relationships. I love getting to know the students and using their interests and passions to engage them in content they may not otherwise be interested in. Most of all, I love being able to help students increase their understanding of the world and universe. It is such a privilege to be able to observe students acquire knowledge and build their confidence as they achieve their goals.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
1. Empathy. I always try to listen to a student's needs and difficulties and create a safe environment to make mistakes. This allows me to better connect and communicate with them and create a positive learning environment.
2. Communication. I strive to break down complex concepts to key steps and take students through each step clearly and simply. I try to explain ideas in multiple ways and from different angles to cement understanding.
3. Passion. Not only am I incredibly passionate about learning, but I always try to find something in the content to get excited about.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
1. Be patient and empathetic. As a student you want your tutor to be excited to tutor you. You want to be able to ask them any question big or small, and you want to know your won't get frustrated if you don't understand something right away.
2. Flexibility. Lesson plans don't always work out. Sometimes students are tired or distracted. A good tutor should be able to adapt and improvise, tackle problems from different angles and utilise a variety of methods to explain tricky concepts
3. Be exited to tutor them! You want your student to know you want to be there. You want them to feel valued.

Lacks clarity when verbally explaining processes/methods needs more work on T/A Needed reminding of how to multiply multiples of 10 but grasped the concept quickly Comprehension of worded problems needs more work. Needs more working using correct form of “their/thereâ€. Sentence structure, punctuation and spelling of some common words need work

Good at asking for further clarification when needed. Was a bit tired today – more of a challenge in staying tuned. Able to recognize errors in spelling/grammar/punctuation more frequently.
Needed some reminding on the increasing orders of magnitude with place values. Needed reminding on the method for multiplying with multiples of 10 – but grasped it very quickly. Still inconsistent when subtracting with borrowing – needs more practice. Struggled at first to understand how to rewrite sentences from first-person into third person – but understood with more practice and is now comfortable with the concept

Listed factors correctly and systematically using “factor pair method†Becoming more confident with subtraction with borrowing – now needs to focus on speed and accuracy when unaided/unprompted Implemented new strategies when faced with homonyms (e.g. too, two, to and know, no)
Made mistakes wit problems when unaided but when revisiting with guidance managed to identify and correct errors. Jimmy forgets to capitalize first words and end sentences with full stops (but this improved by the end of the tutorial). Needs more work on ei/ie vowel group words (e.g. friend, receive, believe, their, piece etc.) Needs work on comma use and contractions

Used a new technique for subtraction for borrowing from zeros which appeared to help clarify the method. Jimmy was also very enthusiastic about the reading comprehension and descriptive writing.
Jimmy found it difficult to conceptualize how factors can be paired. Also needs more practice in listing factors systematically. Still making mistakes when attempting multi-digit subtraction independently. Misspells: “because†and doesn’t identify when to use “too†over “to†– needs to start proofreading his writing. Lacks correct pronounciation in sentence writing.
