What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
From the little experience I have had tutoring, I found that watching the improvement and growth of the child to be highly rewarding. I loved showing the student the joy of learning, as she had previously mentioned to me that she hates school and learning. After encouraging her with positive reinforcement and stickers, she started to enjoy coming to lessons and started completing tasks with a level that she was capable of, rather than previously when she guessed most answers as to finish faster.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My biggest strength is that I am able to adapt my teaching style to fit with how students learn. I am a very mathematical person, and tend to use words and steps to solve problems rather than diagrams. However, in my limited experience, I have found that so many kids are visual learners, and use diagrams to help answer questions. So, in order to successfully teach them, I have had to adapt my teaching, and I believe it is one of my strengths as I have seen improvement in all my students. Furthermore, I often use positive reinforcement and kindness to encourage growth and constant bettering.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to encourage them to always try their best and never give up even if their marks are not the highest. I strongly believe that any improvement should be taken as a win, and this is something that I endeavor to promote through my teaching style and attitude to lessons and students. Having been going to a selective school, I often thought that my best wasn't good enough, but after graduating and being proud of my final results, I have come to realise that doing your best is a win itself, and this is something I will promote to all students.

area of shapes (lily mentioned this was an area that requires improvement) answering questions that combine a range of topics in pythagoras theorem (eg. one question and a combination of area, pythagoras, and algebra, and these are common to occur in exams, so it is important for us to go through them)
understood Pythagoras theorem quite well by the end of lesson, understood surds despite being confused by them at the beginning of the lesson

we will go through more word problems as those are likely to appear in the test i encourage students to prioritise algebra as that is relevant in all tests, so we can work on that to build it up to near perfect each time
