What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Personally, I love the moments when it becomes clear that my student has learnt from my feedback and incorporated into their work independently, displaying that they have become more effective learners themselves. It's also incredibly nice when a new concept 'clicks' for a student, and the sudden spurt of realisation and understanding is a wonderful experience.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I tend to be fairly effective at explaining concepts in such a way that the student can more clearly understand them, and am very good at explaining my reasoning when giving feedback, allowing the students to understand and apply my feedback more effectively in further work. I also am a very quick learner, especially with mathematics, so if a student brings me a mathematical concept I haven't encountered before, I can be fairly confident that I will be able to understand and explain these unfamiliar concepts.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is not just to teach them content - its essential to help a student become more self-sufficient in the field they are studying, and to teach them how to learn more effectively. For example, when teaching a child mathematics, I view simply teaching the content as not enough, as if you can help the student solidify their basic mathematical understanding as well, you allow them to better understand the more advanced content, and thus be more capable of rapidly understanding and learning the concepts they need with more depth and ease.
