What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

Mastering new concepts can be a difficult and time-consuming process yet one that is ultimately a very rewarding aspect of the learning process. As satisfying as it is to be able to acquire these new skills and concepts, tutoring allows us to do something truly transformative with this knowledge. It enables us to guide and cultivate this learning process in other students. A chance to help someone through what can be a rather difficult period and see the same transformation of discovery that I experienced happen within them would perhaps be the most fulfilling aspect of tutoring for me.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I believe that my patience and empathy would be some of my most important qualities as a tutor. I realise that learning new concepts in any subject can be a difficult task for a student. The last thing they need at this stressful time is someone who appears impatient or unable to understand what it is they are struggling with; however obvious it may seem. I would always attempt to break down new concepts into their basic components and adjust them accordingly to the student’s pace as well as constantly strive to find new, more concise method of explaining that addresses their specific needs.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

One of the most essential things a tutor can help a student with is assisting them in building a strong conceptual foundation on which they continue to grow and layer new material as they progress through their studies. I believe this approach, which emphasises mastery of the fundamentals of any subject over simply memorising information will serve any student much better in exam situations. This will facilitate the student to learn more independently in the future as due strong base. If a tutor can assist a student in this way will be rewarding for them in the short and long term experience.
