What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
English was my worst subject up until grade 12, where I had a really good tutor. The help they provided me as well as my added renewal in the effort put into the subject helped boost me from an average student, scoring 60% to an average around the high 90s. The importance of tutoring was shown and being able to pay that back and knowing of its importance is something that I enjoy. Helping my friends through tutoring has felt very rewarding to me and helping people with the struggles that I also had is something I very much enjoy.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am very logical, thinking through how I want to approach the material I am teaching. The way I learnt was through logical justifications, allowing me to easily apply these to students, in a manner of ways. I also am willing to go above and beyond if needed to as a tutor. The feeling of being unable to help is something I despise and I work to make sure I never have to feel that - including when it comes to tutoring.
My patience and understanding of what it's like to be a student also helps me to be empathetic to the individual - in turn helping me to provide more personalised help.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing tutoring did for me was providing a deeper understanding of complicated topics that were hard to grasp. It is also important to be someone that the student feels comfortable coming to with help. So by showing understanding and appreciation for their effort, a student doesn't feel concerned for getting an answer wrong of worried. Doing so encourages a student to try, even if they fail, which is something I learnt and was very helpful for my success.
