What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love how as a tutor, you can work with students in a slower setting (their ability shapes this pace) to help them through their content. I find it highly rewarding to work through student's confusion so they can improve their academic performance, combining this with my own knowledge and resources from my schooling. I also enjoy how tutoring offers a space outside of the often busy classroom, where students are really able to grapple with their work.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I think my strengths as a tutor arise through my tailored approach to tutoring, ensuring that I adjust my approach to whatever the student specifically needs (such as explanations, more practice problems, test preparation). I also am patient and kind as a tutor, which I think is a key strength; I know first-hand from my own experiences in school how beneficial it is to have a patient teacher/tutor who is open to students of all abilities as it makes a student feel comfortable and respected.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
For me, the most important thing that a tutor can do is to develop students' confidence and ability in their studies. By working with a student personally by meeting them where they are at in their abilities, a student's academic confidence can grow as they are able to focus on areas of their work that they specifically struggle with. I think this can also include their study or work habits, as mental hygiene is as important as a rigorous study routine during High School. Whilst being personal and tailored is important I also think that being patient and kind is also paramount!
