This tutor brings a wealth of knowledge in both Pure and Applied Mathematics, having studied these subjects extensively at both the high school and university levels. He has volunteered his time to present solar energy seminars to primary school students, demonstrating an ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible manner. Now looking to focus more on tutoring, he is excited about helping students navigate their educational journeys with confidence and success.
With a Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy Studies and additional qualifications in Renewable Energy Technology, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Communication Engineering, this tutor''s diverse academic background enriches his teaching approach. His multidisciplinary education enables him to offer unique insights into problem-solving and critical thinking—skills that are invaluable for mastering Maths.
Dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment, this tutor holds a Working with Children card and is willing to upgrade it if necessary. He enjoys creating engaging learning experiences through interactive activities like coding small microcontroller systems and designing 3D-printed devices. Parents can trust that their children will receive comprehensive support tailored to their individual needs, ensuring they achieve their full potential in Maths.

The student felt confident in how the SAC had gone. He was able to complete all questions and did not identify any particular questions of concern. The student was able to start some past exam questions and used pen and paper to identify key data and parts of the question. We agreed on the usefulness of a checklist of difficult questions or topics needing extra revision.
The student sometimes does not show written steps that can help to indicate a complete understanding of some material. Some online reports of past exams show that the examiners are looking for an indication of this in the written response questions so we will work further on pen and paper technique that will both demonstrate understanding and seek to minimise transcription errors and mistakes such as incorrect time periods for financial mathematics questions.

I had the student look at how to approach each question, including listing the information provided, and determining the steps required to determine a solution. We were able to do a good practice of interest calculations using both an amortisation table and using finance solver, as well as looking in detail at relative amounts of interest and principal reductions during the course of a loan. We also continued our revision from our previous tutorial of critical path calculations, and I reinforced with the student the need to label activity durations on activity network charts to ensure that earliest and latest start times were accurately recorded.
Practice questions need to be done on a consistent basis to both reinforce understanding of the topics, to ensure that the correct formulae and procedures are used and to minimise errors in calculations.

At the student’s request we concentrated on scheduling problems and worked on a number of revision questions. The student felt more confident with how to approach these questions.
Further practice questions and exam paper review will reinforce the student’s knowledge and improve his confidence in identifying the process to answer questions. The student needs to ensure that working steps are fully shown to help in solving exam questions and avoid numerical, algebraic or rounding errors.

We covered a wide range of topics reinforcing the revision already done by the student and addressed topics he identified as needing further attention. We did not fully calculate all answers but I had the student identify the process for solving a number of practice questions. The student seemed more comfortable with the topics covered. Looking at previous exam reports, we identified that exam questions requiring “show that” need full calculations written in the answer to the question.
I encouraged the student to continue to do practice exam questions, ideally emulating exam conditions especially the time that needs to be allocated to complete each question. In light of the exams coming up shortly I advised the student to let his teacher or me know of any questions or clarification required.
