The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to instil the key executive study skills that are used in the sessions that serve the student well and ensure they apply them all the time. These skills I hope to cement include organisation, focus and time management. I also believe it is important to form a connection with the student and…

I consider that the most important thing a student can do for a student is to never give up on the student. There are downtimes and a loss of motivation. I feel that the tutor should help the student through that phase and provide encouragement. Moreover, a tutor should give time and support to the student. I think my strength as a tutor is that I…

Besides helping the student with their academic workload, I believe that being someone the student can confide in is important for a tutor especially in a 1-1 setting. At the end of the day, a tutor who can listen to their student will make it easier for both parties to cooperate and make the student feel more at ease as their worries and thoughts…

A tutor must be patient as well as motivating for their students. They must be organised and have a well structured plan to support their students while still being open to their ideas and opinions. The tutors must also be good problem solvers in order to assist students with their studies. An effective tutor will always encourage independence and…

Make a comfortable vibe for the students when you teach them. If the students feel comfortable to study with you and help them get interested in the subject, it will be easier for you to assist students in achieving their learning goals. My aim as a tutor is to inspire students to be independent learners by providing them with the supplies, support, and motivation to continue what they have learned by themselves at home. Create a positive relationship with learning for the student. A lot of students have a negative relationship with school, often because the teacher cannot give them that 1-1 attention or go over something multiple times. As a tutor I think it is important to show that the student is capable, they just need to approach the way they learn slightly…

Local Reviews

We are travelling around Australia with our 11 year old daughter, and needed just a little help with homeschooling. I had previously downloaded the free yr 6 maths worksheets ( which were great), and so when we decided to get some extra help, Ezymaths was my first call ( even though I had done significant research into other providers). From the first call, right through to now, after roughly 10 hours of online tutoring, the whole experience has been outstanding!! The staff at Ezymaths have been friendly and helpful, and our tutor, Jessica, is brilliant with our daughter who really looks forward to the sessions. Because of our travelling, we were unable to commit to a set schedule, but Jessica and the team have been great and very accomodating with booking sesssions to suit. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND EZYMATHS TO ANYONE CONSIDERING TUTORING SERVICES........ especially if you are travelling!

Inside Main BeachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Eden focused on subtraction strategies and then practiced translating word problems into mathematical equations.

In Year 9, Ava worked through exam revision covering geometry and linear algebra using recent practice tests.

For Year 12, Michael prepared for assessment by tackling optimisation problems—calculating maximum area with second derivatives—and reviewing differentiation rules like the product and chain rule.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Specialist Maths, a student hesitated to double-check answers during practice tests, missing small errors that "could be easily corrected," as one tutor noted.

Another Year 10 student tackling simultaneous equations struggled to organize their working, sometimes skipping the step-by-step layout and getting lost in calculations.

In English (Year 9), cohesion between ideas and adapting new writing styles remained a challenge—paragraphs didn't always flow logically, which affected clarity.

Meanwhile, a primary-level learner found it difficult to translate word problems into equations without concrete aids; this reliance slowed progress on abstract tasks and made independent problem solving harder.

Recent Achievements

One Main Beach tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 11 student who, after previously getting stuck on mock test questions, independently searched for the trapezoidal rule and used it successfully to solve a challenging problem.

In another session, a Year 9 student who used to avoid sharing her reasoning started talking through domain and range questions out loud and checked her work using definitions, showing real initiative.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who'd relied on rote learning for multiplication was able to spot patterns in timestables and use concrete objects to translate word problems—she finished the lesson by explaining her process without prompts.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Southport Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like The Southport School.
