What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I enjoy the excitement the children feel when they feel that they have understood a topic or accomplished a task. Often times when kids learn something new, they are excited and want to continue to talk about what they have learnt or share what they have learnt with those around them. Furthermore, I find that through tutoring kids, it reminds us of how far we have come, and how at their age what we found difficult, is something that we no longer need to think twice about.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I am a patient person. I acknowledge that all individuals learn in different ways, and a topic may need to be explained through multiple different angles. Furthermore, I am a huge supporter of learning by doing. Making mistakes is part of the process and it is our responsibility as tutors to allow kids to recognize when they have make mistakes and give them the opportunity to correct their mistake before we step in.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be there for them and listen. It is important for students to know that mistakes are supposed to be made, and as tutors we are here to guide them through their mistakes. Furthermore, our role as tutors is to help children do the work, not do the work for them. Sometimes all students need is someone to be there next to them, knowing that if they donβt understand, the situation can be explained. A lot of times students donβt want to begin working because they think the situation is hard and due to a lack of guidance prefer to not try.
