What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I volunteered at school to assist yr5-6s with literacy so they get ready for high-school and what I enjoyed about that the most was their curiosity to learn new things and their yearn for knowledge. The students also pleasantly surprised me with how knowledgeable they were at that age.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths that would work well in tutoring is the ability to be patient and empathetic if they are struggling with certain subjects. I am also encouraging and a good listener. My other strengths would be that I am quite analytical and a good problem solver, so I would use those skills to figure out where and why the student is struggling and try to find a way to teach that suits them best.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to make the student more confident in themselves which motivates them in their studies so they succeed. I have seen in a personal level how badly confidence can affect someone in their studies. You start doubting yourself and think you are horrible at a subject. This leads to the person to not even try anymore and causes them to fall behind. So, giving that confidence in their own abilities is extremely important as they will start wanting to learn and do more. They might want to challenge themselves even more academically!
