What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I have found that I love using my critical thinking skills to break down problems for and with other people. I find helping other people through difficult concepts fulfilling because, as a student myself, I know how it feels to hit a mental barrier. Teaching others also makes me feel confident in myself, since I need to have a very strong grasp of the concepts.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

As a young student myself, I know the struggles of high school study. I know how it feels to be stressed under a high workload and the difficulties of struggling to grasp a concept. As such, I have a strong appreciation for approachable teachers, who foster a supportive environment and instil an open mindset. Furthermore, I have strong written and verbal communication. Lastly, I achieved a 90+ ATAR and was Dux in legal studies and further maths. Ultimately, I would make a great tutor because I appreciate the sort of teacher students need, and I have the requisite skills to teach them.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is encourage an open mind set. I am a strong believer in an open learning mind set. As a student I have found that I struggle the most when I believe that I can't 'get' some concept. This is because students often create a mental block when they feel overwhelmed with a difficult concept. As a tutor, I my job would be to help struggling students overcome this mental block by providing different perspectives on concepts as well as emotional support if they feel stressed. Some students just need to hear that "it's ok to not get it right away".
