What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I most look forward to helping students grow to understand the content they are learning.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I am in my third year of my education degree, and I have developed sound knowledge of the common misconceptions students develop in learning and the best strategies for addressing these misconceptions. I have strengths in empathy and listening to others, as well as great communication skills. This will be useful in providing students explanations of topics in a way that clicks with them.
Most important things I can do for a student π
Tutors must be able to listen to their student's learning needs in order to be able to fully recognise what they must do to help their students with their learning. All student's have the ability to do as well as the can in school when educator's listen to them and give them the best tools to motivate them to learn.

Lewis has improved on rounding to significant figures since we last saw the topic. He understands much better how to deduce which numbers are significant and then how to round the figure. Lewis has a more concrete understanding of how write very large and very small numbers in standard form, rounding correctly when necessary. He knows when powers in scientific notation should be positive or negative. He is starting to grasp what absolute error is. He understands how to convert between calories and kilojoules and can apply this skill to worded questions.
Lewis needs to work on having more immediate recognition of terms used in measurement, such as kilo meaning 1000.

Ruby went really well today, showing that she has retained most of the skills she has learnt in the year so far. Ruby displayed excellent simplification skills in reducing complex algebraic expressions to their simplest form. She has improved on understanding how to simplify algebraic fractions and to check for any negatives that should be there in subtractions, which is amazing to see as she has struggled with these before. Ruby made sure to double check her answers in the practice exam which is an important skill to make a habit.
Ruby needs to practice some absolute value questions to wrap her head around this new concept.

Lewis did really well in the finance recap today. Lewis remembered how to answer each question and was able to ask for help in sections that he didn't fully understand. He is confident in calculating weekly incomes based on many factors and overtime rates. He can convert between units of measurement well and is starting to grasp the idea of absolute errors.
Lewis needs to work on checking back to questions to see if he has answered them correctly or to see if he has missed any information.

Ruby is doing really well with the difficult level of rationalising denominators in year 11. Ruby can identify difference of two squares and perfect squares well, and can expand them accurately even when they include surds. She consistently uses the correct fractions to rationalise denominators and multiplies every term with accuracy. She is improving at simplifying fractions with surds by collecting like terms and removing factors where appropriate.
Ruby should work on carrying negative signs to whole terms when subtracting a fraction.
