What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love observing people grow. I put zero hours in the unofficial tutoring section but I have always helped my peers when they have questions that I can help answer.
The moment they leave with confidence or they apply their knowledge, often better than I can, I become so proud. That is what I enjoy the most.
Teaching others is an amazing opportunity to grow alongside those you teach.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am organised. I will find out where my student currently stands and their goal before making a game plan. I will put in work around the tutoring sessions to make the best possible use of time for both of us.
I understand that people learn differently . Some people just want practice questions. Some people want diagrams and varied explanations. Some people want ample feedback and some just need encouragement. I believe that I will be able to tailor my interactions to best suit their needs.
I will encourage feedback on my own tutoring methods to grow alongside my student.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe the most important aspects of a tutor are to make learning enjoyable, to build confidence and to encourage a problem solving attitude.
The more fun one can have learning, the more you want to try and work on your weaknesses. Being confident in yourself also improves the will to learn and problem solving builds resilience when answers cannot be found in books or an assessment (and life) does not go as planned.
I also want to nurture whatever passions my students have, regardless of what path I have taken and the experience I have. Everyone has the potential to do something amazing.

When there is a sticking point, struggles to think and reframe the problem. Ned to practice 'reframing'. (Though to be fair -- one of the problems worked on had misleading working).
Identified an area of weakness and worked on overcoming it together -- shortcuts for GST
Identified an area of weakness and worked on overcoming it together -- shortcuts for GST
Needs to practice more questions going from having the cost price with GST included and working backwards to find the cost price or to isolate the GST. I think the concept was revised alright in the session so I assigned some questions for HW to see if they stuck. Unfortunately behind on school related concept today.

Need to work on more tricky concepts. Reading the punctuation of word problems to understand where parentheses in equations will end up. Also needs to focus more on drawing diagrams to breakdown questions that are confusing in the first read through.

Needs improvement understanding why each change in equation causes each change in shape. This will come with time, especially as this session was so focused on moving ahead of content. Next session will return to problem questions and I will come with worksheets from issues in previous end of semester exam.
