What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
Tutoring is most gratifying when I know that I am able to make a positive contribution to my student's academic success and personal growth, and that the support I provide is appreciated by others. In a tutor-student relationship, I would be very happy if students could open up to me about any of their struggles (which does not have to be academically related only) and to share my own experience as a life-long learner.
I do not merely see myself as a tutor but also a mentor, who is willing to support my students all the way in their academic as well as personal development journey.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I am flexible in my approach to teaching. As a student myself, sometimes it can be challenging for students to grasp a difficult concept but if it can be simplified, this will make the learning more interesting. With the transferable critical thinking and problem solving skills I have learned through University, I can simplify and explain concepts in various ways to make learning a fun and better experience, this is important for STEM subjects because understanding is more important than memorisation.
Most important things I can do for a student π
Some of the most important things that a tutor can and should do for a student include: providing useful and timely support if needed, creating a supportive environment in which we can all learn and grow without being afraid of making mistakes, and helping students to identify and overcome their shortcomings to thrive academically. I am very responsive and enthusiastic whenever anyone expresses a true desire to learn, and no matter how challenging the problems can be, I will try to the best of my ability to solve the problem and support my students all the way.
