The most important things for a tutor to do for a student is ensure their confidence stems from understanding not just knowing the answer to a question but instead the theory behind it. A tutor should ensure a student understands the theory behind a concept and how they got their rather than the finishing product. Through this, a tutor gives a student a greater understanding of the subject itself and therefore a greater confidence in the subject.
