What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
For me, tutoring allows me to explore my passion for teaching and develop connections with a diverse range of students. I love watching my students grow as learners and understand the concepts they once found challenging.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor, I believe I am great at developing a positive and constructive relationship with my students. I tailor my lessons around the individual needs and learning styles of my students, optimising what they get out of our classes. This has seen all my students improve dramatically in their studies and feel confident with the material they are given at school.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is give them confidence. For students, school can be stressful and overwhelming. This can lead to them feeling lost and unsure as to whether they understand concepts correctly. As a tutor, I believe it is my responsibility to give them a sense of confidence that they are on the right track and ensure they feel comfortable and prepared for all aspects of their learning.

I was really impressed with Elijah's ability to select the correct homophones based on a sentence given. This is a tricky topic, but he was able to answer the worksheets nearly perfectly!
Sometimes in our maths working, Elijah will try to rush to get the correct answer, as opposed to actually working the question out. I will continue to encourage him to slow down and consider the question carefully.

I was very impressed with Lara's ability to pick up material quickly. Despite covering some new and complex topics, Lara was able to understand the content after I had demonstrated the method once or twice.
I was super impressed with Lara's progress this lesson. The only thing we identified we want to focus on for the future is understanding exponents, in particular, the conventions and meanings of square/cubic numbers.

I was super impressed by Kenzie's understanding of each topic we covered. If she was unsure of a question, she would always give it a go, and typically could figure out her mistakes without me having to correct her.
We have been working on changing our mindset when it comes to approaching difficult problems. Specifically, instead of letting a hard question overwhelm her, I have been encouraging Kenzie to break the question down into components she understands. Usually, by the time she has done this, she has realised that she actually has all the skills and knowledge to solve the question!

I was really impressed with Elijah's ability to comprehend new mathematical concepts. He listened to my feedback on naming numbers carefully, and was able to pick it up fairly quickly. I was also impressed with how quickly he picked up telling the time on analogue clocks, managing to master this concept by the end of the lesson.
Elijah sometimes can be distracted and struggle to stay engaged in class. I have tailored my lessons accordingly, so we now focus on doing interactive games and activities to learn new concepts, which I have found allows Elijah to enjoy the learning and understand the material a lot more effectively.
