What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I love academics especially maths and science and hope to inspire future students into stem and boost performance in all subjects. I love offering support and watching students grow not only academically but as a person as their confidence increases and challenges are seen as an opportunity not a burden. It is not only about the solution but the journey as many paths must be attempted before finding the right one. Itβs the excitement radiated after a student finds an innovative solution that resonates most with me as they donβt only find an answer but a methodology and open-mindedness.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I have great interpersonal skills from my roles as a netball coach, umpire and event manager which have enhanced my communication and leadership as well as teamwork which is key to a tutor-tutee relationship. I am a very patient person who is willing to solve problems, adapt my teaching style and adopt a variety of different approaches to situations. I also have prior experience from the smith family student2student buddy reading program in motivating a student to persist through difficult problems and stay engaged and eager to learn through a session.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The number one thing I could do as a tutor is ignite a passion for academics and school in every student. The key to success is having goals and having a drive to discover, learn and create which I hope to ignite in students. A passion gives student direction makes learning fun and is the true key to success. Through a positive attitude and interactive tutoring sessions I hope to ignite a curiosity in the students, encouraging a growth mindset and problem solving in their learning.
