What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I really enjoy making concepts easier to understand and sharing the tips and tricks that have helped me in the past. I love seeing the reactions of students when the dots connect and a concept or topic that was difficult and intimidating to them, actually turns out to be understandable and easy for them to grasp.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I have the patience and the skills from trying out various methods myself. I believe trial and error in my personal experience makes for a greater tutoring experience. As I can relate to the struggles that the students are facing, they are able to feel less intimidated and more comfortable when engaging with the content - which I believe is a strength that not many tutors have.
Most important things I can do for a student π
I consider the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is create a space that they feel comfortable to be challenged and to learn in. Itβs one thing to just help with answering questions but to encourage and motivate students to take on the difficult concepts even when they're working on their own, this is crucial and shows growth. Independence in tackling new challenges is a sign that the student is indeed learning and absorbing the help you are providing.

Georgia is catching onto the concepts of simplifying and is doing well in remembering the steps to solve these questions. She is also using talking aloud which is helping her voice her progress and understand what she is answering.
Georgia needs to revise her timetables as they seem to be slowing her down. She also needs to constantly revise the concepts with negative numbers, so as to not forget them. Iβd like her to take initiative when answering the more difficult questions as it will help her remember more and will help when sheβs completing a test. Overall constant revision and practice is helping and will continue to help in the future.
Georgia explained her ideas clearly and was able to write responses on her own.

There seem to be gaps in knowledge that will be improved in the future. Georgia needs practice writing PEEL paragraphs and working on the essay structure. Also, some revision is needed on identifying techniques used and writing the explanations for their effectiveness.

Georgia did a good job of understanding significant figures, which she could re-explain to me in the flipped learning approach that we tried today. This approach worked well for her. She also quickly understood the new chapter on approximations.
Working on confidence once again; however, I can tell that she is slowly becoming more comfortable talking aloud and explaining the concepts to me to show that she understands them. Revising previous chapters will help Georgia work at a faster pace. Concepts such as algebra, the mean, division, and solving for the unknown need revision.
She did well in understanding recurring and terminating decimals, and writing ratios in their normal form. She also briefly understood simplifying fractions.

Working on her confidence, as she answers questions correctly but doubts her answer. She needs improvement in the remaining topics as there are gaps in knowledge. More work needed for simplifying ratios with different units, so calculations can be done more smoothly. Some more attention is needed on dividing and simplifying fractions.
