What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Being able to help people understand the world in a better way. Not only is it beautiful to see someone unravel the secrets of science and mathematics but I find great satisfaction in knowing that I've helped their school results indirectly helping their future as well. Knowing that I could help even just one person go from being TAFE prospective with little interest in academia to someone who dreams of studying STEM at university, who wants to be an engineer or mathematician or doctor gives me a great sense of satisfaction. While the work feels small, one can't truly put a price on knowledge.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
There was a phase early in high school in which I was going through some things and really struggling. However this changed and I soon became a top student. I can understand and relate to the struggles of kids who may not be the best, I can see things from their perspective. I also prefer my teaching style to start very basic and build things up step by step. Often kids rote learn concepts which can often lead to failure or misunderstandings so I usually go through the base concepts thoroughly to then ensure they have a superior understanding of the more complex topics once it comes together.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to listen to a student and never give up on them. Too easily teachers can be frustrated by students and give up on them, despite everyone finding different things difficult to understand. By listening to a student you can also ask them to first explain the concept to you. Often its just a simple flaw in their understanding and its better to explain to them their understandings flaw, explain why it is wrong rather than simply asking them to forget about it and listen to you. You can also discover where they struggle and where they excel.
