What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I really enjoy sharing my experiences as well as passing on my tips and tricks for the younger students. Not only do I get to teach the students, but I tutoring is also a learning experience for myself. By learning and developing the skills to be able to tutor other people, I am able to fully grasp controls over concepts and pursue a higher level of understanding. Overall I enjoy helping other students in an area that I'm passionate in and I think that tutoring is beneficial for all parties involved.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am patient as a tutor and I would happily use many different approaches to explain things to help students fully understand a difficult problem. I also think a strength of mine is that I'm passionate in maths and helping others, so I would make sure to help students develop a liking to maths as well. Albeit I have no formal experience thus far, I have had non-commercial experience and I have developed some tips and tricks along the way that would be useful.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important area that a tutor can provide a student is to make sure they are in a comfortable and non-judgmental environment. I believe this is the first step in helping those that are not too keen in school or homework. After providing a friendly setting, this would lay the foundation that would help enable the student to develop a positive mindset and want to work hard for themselves. I believe a tutor should help a student reach their full academic potential in a shared, cohesive, team effort.

I have given some comments to Keshara and his dad in person. It was a pleasure teaching him.

I think Keshara's exam 2 was done quite well but he needs to work on checking the exam in detail after finishing. His speed is good and so he needs to allocate himself at least 5minutes worth of checking time at the end of exams. Keshara understood the chain rule and product rule well. I hope he practices those during the week for extra revision.
Exam 1 could have been done with improvement. Most of the questions on there were what we covered during class. To improve, Keshara can continue to work on his algebra. He should practice on being able to identify difference of perfect squares as well as difference of squares which then allows for factorisation. I have also noted that he needs to work on domain and range questions more, especially questions that involve one to one functions then the inverse. These topics will be featured in the year 12 final exam.

Alex understood today's work well but he sometimes forgot to multiply top and bottom by the same number. I think with practice he should be able to do the questions with ease.
I have given Alex a lot more homework than usual because I am not sure when the next tutor will come . If there is a gap between when I finish and when the next tutor starts, he can still do the homework I assigned him this week. Alex's maths abilities are definitely getting stronger, and I hope that he continues practicing. As discussed during the phone call, I recommend you purchase some grade 4 books as extra practice and also go on to the site vic maths weebly to download worksheets.
Alex understood similes and metaphors quite well and was able to write sentences for them.

Alex should again work more on his spelling. I have tried to help him sound some words out and helped him identify patterns in some words. He is developing the habit of capitalising his sentences but he should also remember to place full stops at the end of them.
