What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I enjoy watching a persons brain tick, namely when they think aloud. Slowly watching them build towards the "aha!" moment is very satisfying. During the process I learn more about them, and the way people learn, and thus become a better teacher. They leave a bit smarter and more confident than before. I find (especially with mathematics) people are often so afraid of being wrong that they're scared to experiment. There are few things more rewarding than seeing someone grow into a curious and experimental mind who fail quickly for stronger learning.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

I'm very patient with students. I pride myself on instilling confidence in my students by lifting them up when they don't understand something rather than putting them down like so many teachers sadly do. I like to program teaching aids for my students so they have an infinite resource to test their knowledge against.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

Provide a love for learning. Schools are centered around competition and grades which do the exact opposite, but if you want students to enjoy learning and to continue enjoying it after they've graduated your class you want to teach them in a way that is engaging, relevant, and understandable. I believe the best way is to teach them the bare minimum and let them ask the questions. If this is done well you will end up teaching them more than you would if you piled on your lessons, and they will be more enthused than before. The corollary to this that the most important lessons to teach students are more about their approach to the subject than the subject itself.
