What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

I find it rewarding seeing the results of students and them being more excited to learn and want to do well in their subjects. Despite having strong maths abilities, with English being my second language, I initially struggled with maths due to the unknown terminology. However, I am now studying a bachelor of commerce and a bachelor of IT at Monash University. I hope I can transfer my skills and knowledge to the student and show them that their hard work can help them overcome challenges and achieve their desired results as well.

My Strengths as Tutor 💪

My strengths include my strong verbal and written communication. I ensure that I am very direct and use a calm tone, helping the students understand me better and to not be overwhelmed. I am very patient and willing to break down both fundamental and complex problems so it is not as challenging and to make sure that the student fully understands concepts. Having done 2/3 VCE maths (methods and further) in year 12, I am well aware of the VCE maths system tech-free and with calculator. Hence, I am reliable to provide the necessary maths skills to do well in current and future studies, focussing on the content that will help the student succeed the most. the content that needs to be prioritised and learnt. Most students will either do both methods and further or just methods (25 study score pre-requisite), so I have exactly -I worked with kids before and understand different kids have different abilities and are not homogenous, so some kids might take longer to grasp concepts and ideas. -I respect all from different backgrounds. -Calm and patient. -I Have a strong understanding of expectations from students, having completed 2/3 maths for my VCE.

Most important things I can do for a student 🏅

I think a tutor needs to be easy going but also serious and take their time to make sure that the student is doing their best. I understand that different students have different progressions, so I want to ensure that I cater towards the individual needs of the student. I am empathetic and not judgemental, as the student needs to build their confidence and feel safe whether or not they are doing well in their maths studies. Together, we can work on strengths and weaknesses and identify what needs to be improved. I also want to provide a friendly environment which the student can ask questions whenever. Furthermore, I want to help the students solve problems without relying on solutions.
