What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The moment someone is enlightened and suddenly understands a concept is something I absolutely love seeing on others. Tutoring is often a long term process of allowing students to improve, building the foundations on the basics such as overall coherency in English. When students smile because their hard work has been paid off and they are more confident with their skills, I think my job as a tutor is complete and I feel more motivated to continue helping other students! I have a strong desire to let students improve their skills whilst falling in love with the intricacies of each subject!
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Understanding is key. Whether it be knowing the strengths and weaknesses of a student, knowing what to teach them, understanding their concerns and the places they want to improve on, or simply mentally supporting them as they try their best at a subject, it is essential tutors know the students and are able to personally cater teaching in a relaxing environment at an efficient pace.
I take time to communicate with others, and I have an eye for detail, so I can tell when students like or dislike a certain type of teaching or concept - and also when they want to slack off!
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I aim to set up a relaxed environment with the students so that students feel comfortable and focused working on subjects. Understanding the level the student is at, so that they are able to improve their skills at a suitable pace is essential. Next, providing worksheets, exams and textbooks so that they can continue improving by themselves, whilst teaching the concepts they need in class will help solidify their skills. Tutors should also correct and give feedback to students to allow for personal understanding of how they are improving in class. Confidence boosts are important too!

Sometimes there is still a tendency to get adding and subtracting mixed up, so be sure to remember checking for the signs before answering the questions. More practice should help with faster improvement in the numbers area too!

Speed of the equations was faster than last time. For the complementary numbers, can work out 10/0 and 5/5 really quickly. Was able to improve on speed and accuracy of the numbers later. Was able to understand the number problems well, including where each number corresponds to in terms of a maths equation.
Would be just slightly distracted at times - would be able to solve the problems quickly after. Would at times get number 7,8 and 9 mixed up, though Paige was able to correct it immediately after by. The number problems could be solved directly through the vertical working out method. Did attempt to try one of the problems mentally which was great, although accuracy using this method a bit lower for now - definitely can improve with more practice.
Any adding of numbers that did not cross over 10, whether it was adding or subtracting was well done.

Would sometimes add the numbers instead of subtracting the numbers and vice versa. Once the problem was realised Paige was able to correctly attempt the questions. Sometimes would be off by 1. We will also be working on timing in the next few classes to help Paige in calculating the numbers in her head!

Again, was able to use the vertical setup with subtraction this time. Was able to find the correct answer quickly when numbers were applied to real life objects (hearts, glasses etc.)
Still sneakily uses hands every once in a while, would sometimes add instead of subtracting the numbers. Has a tendency of saying the answer is 1 instead of 0 when a number is subtracted from itself.
