What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
I enjoy guiding people to understand new concepts. Learning is an achievement and supporting people in that achievement is extremely rewarding. It is also important for everyone to reach their fullest potential so ensuring that students have the best chance possible to reflect their ability is everyone's responsibility.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I am good at taking complicated topics and breaking them down into components so that different concepts can be taught piece by piece. I am also reasonably creative and can quickly generate examples and different methods of explanation based on whether someone is understanding what I've said. I have been told that I teach well and most importantly that I do so in a way that makes people feel confident in themselves.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
The most important things for a tutor to do is to help a student strengthen their own ability to learn independantly. It is far more important that a student understands the learning process and what works best for them rather than simply memorise a single topic. Having transferable skills as a student and being able to apply their knowledge to wherever is required is more feasible than passing a single assessment or quiz without fully grasping the concepts.

Nothing major to report, as usual Molly asked good questions to expand her knowledge and seemed to have a stronger grasp on the concepts of direct proportion by the end of the session, and hopefully will practice to cement her knowledge
Nothing to report, but I recommended to Molly that she tries to find more real world applications of what she is learning in her day to day life to help her make the connections between mathematical concepts and their relevancy to everyday life

Molly is getting a more comprehensive understanding of how formulas describe relationships which is something we have been working on during our sessions. She also as per usual asks good questions showing that she often has an idea of where her knowledge gaps are. As usual Molly shows a natural proficiency with Mathematics which has unfortunately been (hopefully temporarily) hindered by missed school time
I would like to see Molly's confidence in herself grow as sometimes she still seems hesitant to trust her mathematical judgement and make an attempt, however this has been improving as her faith in her mathematical ability improves.
Molly has a good understanding of financial maths, and hopefully picked up a few new methods of approaching the problems that she can utilise in her test.

Molly should continue to practice reading the questions and numbers carefully when inputting them into the calculator and writing them down .

Molly did well applying knowledge from earlier in the worksheet and concepts we discussed to answer new questions. She also understood and utilised our work on formulas to work backwards on the questions that needed it.
As mentioned before Molly needs to build a habit of writing all her working out, and annotating which question she is working on, This will help her while working on questions to organise her thoughts and make information easily accesible to her (as she frequently looks at the wrong information when referring back to worksheets or questions). It will also help with revision to have old answers and their method readily available.
