What do I enjoy most about tutoring? ๐
I most enjoy mentoring a student to learn a new concept. The joy of seeing a student grasp a concept and then apply is like seeing a light bulb go on on their head. I have found the often, students doubt their own ability and self-talk down their own capability, so part of the challenge is also installing a sense of belief in themselves and a confidence they can achieve.
My Strengths as Tutor ๐ช
I have a broad range of knowledge from my experience in engineering, business and now in teaching. I have a strong foundational knowledge in mathematics, but I am aware that it is important to adjust the learning process to the student and every student is different. My life experiences have taught me to read people and adjust how I approach the learning process to achieve the best outcome for the student.
Most important things I can do for a student ๐
1). Establish rapport with the student. If the student feels comfortable with the tutor, the learning process will be smoother
2). Determine the current knowledge of the student in the topic and identify where the student has gaps in current & prior knowledge. Mathematics requires building on prior knowledge and ensuring this foundational knowledge is place.
3). The tutoring process should be a two way process, so ensuring that the student has an opportunity to give feedback.
4). Build confidence and belief in student
