What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
My favourite part about tutoring is getting people to that "aha moment". I think quite often students get overwhelmed with the thought of certain subjects, particularly maths, and don't think they can do well nor have the will to try because they're worried about what will happen if they don't do well. So I find tutoring is a great way to guide students into understanding that they can achieve anything so long as they work hard enough and have the correct guidance to get them there. I enjoy working with people and understanding their goals and then working backwards to help them get there.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
From explaining some concepts to some of my friends who did methods 1/2 this year, I found that I was able to help them identify the root of the problem and help explain to them the correct way of thinking and address and fundamental errors they might have had. More importantly, I'm a patient person, as a tutor I feel that a student should be able to ask you the same question multiple times and you should reply with the same quality response each time and without getting frustrated as that is what teachers often do not provide to students.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
As a tutor, you play an important role in a student's mentality towards education. A tutor should aim to correct the "I can't do it" mindset that many students have into an "I can't do it now, but with some guidance and work I will be able to" mindset. But a tutor should also be able to help an already excelling student to achieve higher and to help challenge them to reach their potential. Additionally, a tutor is also there as additional support for the student and should be able to lift the student up when they feel stuck.
