What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
As a tutor, I get to see students in similar situations to what I was in during high school. Not only do I get to guide them based on my own personal experience, but I also am able to motivate them to achieve their own individual goals.
Tutoring allows me to further develop my communication and teaching skills, while allowing me to consolidate and extend subject matter of great interest to me. Using this as motivation, I can then inspire students to see the same beauty in the subject that I do.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
- I believe the most important quality of any tutor (or any professional for that matter) is that they enjoy their work. I truly believe that I will enjoy a job as a tutor, and this will encourage me to help my students as effectively as I possibly can.
- I believe I have an advanced knowledge of all the subjects I have indicated.
- As a recent graduate, I remember what it was like to go through high school, and am familiar with QCAA procedures.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The two biggest things I think a tutor can do for a student is to inspire and support.
If a student is inspired, there's half the tutor's job gone. A student who wants to learn is far more likely to succeed than one who does not. But in saying this, this is clearly not easy for some students.
A tutor also needs to support a student through their academic journey. This may take different forms, but it is definitely a great idea to regularly check up on student progress towards their goals. Celebrate when they succeed, and comfort (but also inspire) when they fall short.
