What do I enjoy most about tutoring? π
I love being able to be there for the children during their schooling life because I know the difference and the positive impact my tutors made in my life during my schooling life when I needed them. They made a difference for me and I love to also make a difference in other student's lives to help them the way I was helped. I also love seeing improvements in my student's studies and marks and their increase in confidence after being able to understand the content they have been struggling with.
My Strengths as Tutor πͺ
I can use many different ways to explain one concept which ensures that my students don't just rote learn content but also understand it to make it easier for them to know what they're really studying. I cater it to their style of understanding so that they receive all the information confidently. I also encourage my students to always ask questions to clarify anything they need to be explained/taught again and also ask them questions in return to make sure they really understand the question so that after every session, they are taking in useful material.
Most important things I can do for a student π
The most important thing as a tutor is to put yourself in the student's shoes and make sure they are learning and taking in something useful after every session. This makes the most out of their time and also helps to make them more confident in their studies, which also builds trust between the student and tutor which is key to making them believe in themselves and that the tutor is there to guide them through every content they need extra confidence and understanding on. A tutor should also be a mentor and help their students through everything.

We started the lesson off and planned how to structure our next few lessons in order to efficiently study for her upcoming test on 8th of November. When we went through biology, Amity grasped the knowledge quite fast and asked important questions that furthered her learning.
From next class what we could do better is try and structure the class better and have a list of topics weβre going to go through during that class to maximise time efficiency and go through as much as possible.
When I explained the concepts to her, she remembered them after the revision and was able to tell me all the steps one after another.

All she needs to do for her exam now is memorise the steps and where all the different steps occur and practice many times so she is prepared for the exam tomorrow.
We went through all the concepts and worked through the questions together one after another and Andrea was able to grasp the concepts quite well.

Andrea would benefit from attempting such questions multiple times to make sure she gets enough practice otherwise she might forget all these different concepts because a lot was covered for her upcoming test in school with this chapter.
Went through the step by step process of mitosis and meiosis and also taught Andrea all the different terminologies associated with these processes.

Overall she understands everything quite well. If she practices using the different terminologies more (since itβs her first time learning them) then she can grasp onto them better. She should also practice the step by step process by herself by writing it out so she doesnβt forget.
