What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
Tutoring, similar to teaching, can be a very rewarding endeavour as you are able to directly work with young people to help them grow both academically and as a person. What I enjoy most about tutoring is seeing students begin to grow confidence in subjects they might previously have struggled with, as well as seeing them grow in appreciation of the knowledge imparted onto them through their education journey. Not many occupations allow for such individualised impact on youth.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
Being a recent graduate, I feel I am able to better empathise with students and their struggles in studying overcome these struggles myself. As such, I believe I can provide insightful methods on how to overcome them as a tutor. I am also considered approachable by my peers who often come to me for help in both study related and life related problems. I believe these skills translate well into what is necessary to be a teacher and tutor.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
As a tutor, it is important not to be restrictive in your approach and to have flexibility. Being able to personalise your approach, trying out different ways of teaching and altering it to suit the student is necessary to make them feel more at ease when learning as well as bringing out the best in them. Rather than students catering to us, we should instead . For example, spending more than the allocated tutoring time in order to ensure they fully understand concepts or helping them out outside of tutoring hours via email. Learning is a dynamic process and so should be our teaching approach.

She was able to recall some of the strategies that I had taught her for certain topics such as for fractions and algebra. For some of the more difficult topics, she is able to vaguely recall how to do them and is able to complete them with a small nudge in memory.
Unfortunately, Zoey did not perform as expected in her final maths exams due to a volleyball tournament being scheduled on the same day. In the future, it is imperative for her to keep up to date on revision and work so that regardless of what setbacks occur, she will still be well prepared for exams rather than leaving it to the last minute.

Using the times tables which I encouraged her to practice for homework, she was able to quickly identify multiples and factors which helped in solving non-calculator questions.
Zoey is sometimes unable to identify the most efficient way to solve a problem and can sometimes take longer than necessary to complete them. In the following weeks before the exam I will try and address this and show her some techniques to help speed up her problem solving.

Although she is able to remember some of the fractions techniques I taught her in previous weeks, she still ends up having a lot of trouble remembering and applying the specifics, sometimes even muddling up the methods.

When practicing how to spot difficult questions in reading time, she was able to quickly identify a possible solution or method on how to tackle the challenging questions and hopefully this will translate into being able to complete the exams faster on the real day.
There are a multitiude of techniques I've taught her this past month in preparation, but she is prone to forgetting to apply them. She will need to practice using the techniques more often so as to solidfy them in her mind.
