What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
The thing I enjoy most about tutoring is that it allows me to revisit past concepts and theories that I have learnt and pass my knowledge down to others. I love nurturing and expanding young minds and observing progress along the way.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am good at adapting to many different learning styles. This is due to my experience of studying in Singapore as a child in primary school, followed by the IB Curriculum in Canberra during High School, and then VCE in Melbourne. My experiences have exposed me to many different forms of teaching and learning, giving me confidence in teaching students with a wide range of techniques.
I am also good at keeping my student engaged with the lesson and break down hard and long concepts to ensure that the content is not overwhelming and un-entertaining.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to have patience when working with a student. As there are many different students with many different learning styles, there may be times when a student is unable to understand topics and concepts, despite long periods of teaching. A good tutor should have patience and analyse what methods to teaching would benefit the student the most. A teacher should never lose their patience with a student while teaching, as it can make tuition for the student an unpleasant experience and lead to a bad attitude to learning.

- Flynn was able to understand factorising cubics using the factor theorem. - In addition, Flynn was able to connect his knowledge from the intercept-form of quadratics to the factor form of cubics, resulting in a good level of understanding with the factor form.
- At times, Flynn would have trouble with sketching cubics with a point of inflection and immediately goes towards drawing a cubic that has 2 turning points instead. I would recommend he takes extra time to check the form of the cubic before rushing towards the factor form cubic.
- Flynn was able to effectively decide when to use the null factor law to solve questions relating to cubics.
- Flynn was able to effectively decide when to use the null factor law to solve questions relating to cubics.
- He had trouble remembering the significance of the turning point values of a cubic. I recommend that he tries more application questions as practice as turning points show up in almost all application questions. - He also has some trouble finding the upper limit of a domain and often only finds the lower limit of the domain.

- Flynn was able to find and simplify like terms to make working out cleaner and easier to continue. - He also managed to effectively identify when to apply Difference of Perfect Squares.
- At times, factorising quadratic equations took more time than recommended or was incorrect. Being exposed to more factorising would help a lot. - After long chunks of working out, Flynn would make careless mistakes replacing "-" signs with "+" signs or vice versa. Should try to write in a systematic way (e.g. straight down to easily check previous lines).

- Flynn is capable of converting quadratics between different forms very quickly. - He is also capable of analysing quadratics well (e.g. finding turning points and endpoints) effectively and quickly.
- He has trouble simplyfing the quadratic formula when larger numbers are included. Especially when there are multiple negative numbers included which causes a lot of signs to flip. - He often mistakes the constant in the turning point form to be the y-intercept. The constant in the turning point form is actually the y value of the turning point.
