What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I love that tutoring is essentially an informal, support system for students. It removes the inaccessibility that the stifling nature that the classroom environment can pose by enabling the student to ask questions and learn without any inhibiting factors. I also love changing the nature of tutoring - that it can truly be fun and enjoyable.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor, I believe my strengths lie in taking hard concepts and reworking them down to easy and simplified concepts. I have verified this as I was able to teach my Year 8 student, Year 12 concepts such as differentiation (simple) and higher-level concepts such as quadratics and linear and she was still able to grasp it. I also believe another strength of mine is my ability to connect with the student, to remove the fear that may be inhibiting the student from asking questions, hence learning.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
I think one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to enrich their understanding and reinvigorate or catalyze a passion in a particular subject. Nowadays, a student's passion for a particular subject dwindles as they go further and further into their high school career. This may be due to external factors such as pressure or how hard the subject is, hence this makes it even harder for the student to renew their passion and invigoration for a particular subject. If a tutor is able to accomplish this duty, I believe this truly shows the capability of a tutor.
