My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I believe my strengths are paitience, competence in Mathematics (as I studied up to Mathematics Extension 1); and my ability to understand the difference in needs of each individual student.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important things a tutor can do is to provide motivation and communication. It is important that a student is able to ask questions and be engaged in their studies.

Emily shared her recent exam results, showing a 20% improvement. I am impressed that Emily recognises her recent improvements and achievement - so well done Emily! The new topics was also covered in school, this session looked at reviewing the concepts and tested Emily's understanding. Emily was able to go through examples and answer them whilst being prompted. When something didn't make sense, Emily is proactive about asking for help.
Focus and articulating how she came up with the answers will help. I would suggest Emily to talk through the problem questions which will help with the thought process.

Tanja managed to complete more than 50% of her assessment as agreed prior to the session. Tanja was engaging and showed initiative on the questions she was unsure with. We were able to go through them in the hour session. Tanja was able to answer the majority of the questions where she was initially unsure of independently. There was only a few conceptual questions where help was needed in interpreting the questions. I was particularly impressed that Tanja was able to sense check her answers by looking back at the details of the question.
Tanja is to back herself with her knowledge of the concepts. She displayed the know how during the session.

Emily was interactive and engaging throughout. Re last week's school exam, Emily mentioned she felt like she did comparatively better than in math vs her other subjects. Emily is to share her results next time.
Emily did not send through answers to the questions sent to her from last session. We were able to go through practice questions to solve for x, the majority of the time Emily needed to be prompted on the next steps, and examples shown before she was able to answer the questions correctly. Current math topics being learnt at school is unknown.

Emily was pleasant and engaging throughout. For the session, Emily agreed to revise last week’s topics in preparation for the exams this week. Both methods of Simultaneous equations were revised. Sample question and answer that was done in the session today was emailed to Emily to practise. Emily agreed to work on a few more problems in linear graphs and box plots, and to send back answers.
Emily had forgotten how to approach the problems. During the session both methods were revised again. Emily will benefit a lot if she practises more questions in her own time, that way she would be able to tackle problems quickly. Emily should try not to avoid topics that seem hard. Practise is one way to improve.
