What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁

As a mentor, what I drew the most satisfaction from was seeing my mentees superseding both the workplaces expectations, and their own personal goals more importantly. Seeing the people I mentored months later in higher positions or even leadership roles. To elaborate, seeing a mentee finally figure something out or improve on a skill that they were once struggling with and going on to excel at it, to be clichΓ©, is payment enough.

My Strengths as Tutor πŸ’ͺ

I am very conscious about when and with what people are struggling with when they themselves don't feel comfortable saying it or even don't know how to articulate it. I have had plenty practice in adjusting my work style to suit another individual, and know when and how to do so. Finally I understand the concept of mentoring through respect and integrity as opposed to coercion or even intimidation and how important it is to create a positive working/learning environment for everyone. No one deserves to go home miserable just because their mentor/tutor/boss was harsh and impatient with them.

Most important things I can do for a student πŸ…

I believe it is a tutor's job to ensure that the student understands the concepts taught to them crystal clear, and needs to be sure that they create a safe space in which the student feels comfortable in asking their tutor questions when they don't fully comprehend a subject. A tutor must be able to perform their job whilst also creating a positive and enjoyable atmosphere for the student, it isn't enough from a tutor to merely lecture the student. A tutor needs to make the student feel at ease whilst also assisting them in not only meeting their targets but excelling right past them.
