What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I most enjoy the connection I am making with the student through learning. It is heart-warming to be apart of the students' education journey, and getting to witness the “ah-ha!†moment, when the student finally understands something they had been struggling with. It is what keeps me doing what I do.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
As a tutor, my main strengths are differing the task to best suit the students’ learning style, incorporation of real-word examples and my kind and friendly personality. As a student teacher, I often see students struggle based on the fact that the task doesn’t suit their best learning style, so I try to accomodate for the students so they can fully immerse themselves in the task. I also like to contextualise the content for a deeper understanding of the topic. I do this while having a laugh and trying to make the task fun.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
The most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is to give them the confidence to participate in class activities outside of the tutoring session. My most valued moments of tutoring my maths student are when she came back to a session and told me that she participated in class discussions and answered questions in class. I believe it is also important for the students to have contact with someone in tertiary education, to bust myths and to answer questions about higher education that they can’t get answered in the classroom.
