What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I thrive watching other students grow and get excited about learning. I enjoy making students realise their potential and drive their curiosity to want to discover new ideas and concepts.
When I see a spark of recognition in a students' eye, I feel accomplished. The understanding a student gains from a concept they previously thought 'too hard' is what fuels my ambition to educate.
I believe that watching a young mind grow is a very rewarding opportunity. It also inspires a tutor to continue building their own skills to continue teaching others.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
My strengths lie in being an analytical thinker with an eye for detail. I can recognise, simply via facial expression, when a student does or does not understand what I am explaining.
Upon this recognition, I also can adapt to know where to go next. I can continue to explain in more detail to build the expertise in that area of study, or I can slow down the lesson and explain foundations from the beginning.
I am organised, knowing how to prioritise workloads. I would request to see students' writing samples before initially meeting them in person, to then start a lesson off with feedback.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
A tutor should always motivate a student to have a specific goal and want to work towards it. Tutors must inspire their students to strive to achieve and to dream of a future where they are successful. Being organised is crucial. Giving a student time to reflect on what they have learned, by spending time during a lesson explaining their knowledge to a tutor so that the tutor knows where there are gaps in knowledge that they can fill. A tutor should also take time recommending study strategies for their student, finding useful worksheets and videos for the student in between lessons.
