What do I enjoy most about tutoring? 😁
I most enjoy proving to students that their own hard work and perseverance can yield incredible results, and watching their confidence grow as a result. It is far too easy to feel discouraged when you are not naturally good at something immediately, so giving students a space to improve at their own pace and within their own comfort zone is incredibly rewarding.
Furthermore, listening to students as they bring their own backgrounds, opinions, and personalities to a novel or work of poetry is fascinating, especially as they invite new perspectives.
My Strengths as Tutor 💪
I am incredibly understanding and approachable, and aim to create a safe and constructive tutoring environment. I have personally experienced a lack of confidence in certain subject areas, and understand the frustration of feeling behind your peers. I wish to implement learning strategies and support to help students overcome that, and hopefully be able to apply lessons from my sessions as they thrive in the later years of their education.
Most important things I can do for a student 🏅
It is vital that tutors are approachable, and can come from a place of understanding when students seek to overcome certain educational hurdles. Whilst it is also important for tutors to have a deep understanding of the subject they are tutoring, they should also be able to emphasise that mistakes and failure are a natural part of the learning process and that, ultimately, no one knows everything. Creating this kind of tutoring environment provides a safe space for students to work hard and prosper in their chosen subject.
